Anantara’s first resort in Mauritius is a real stunner, ensconced within the idyllic surroundings of blue bay marine park. Wonderfully white sands and turquoise waters rich in marine life provide a bewitching backdrop for this contemporary beach retreat, which incorporates locally-sourced natural materials such as volcanic stone and sun-bleached driftwood into its characteristically stylish design. There are 164 luxurious rooms and suites, with décor and furnishings in a contrasting combination of colours: ultramarine, yellow and orange hues to reflect the island’s ocean, sandy beaches and legendary sunsets. The result is a contemporary, tropical beach house feel, which is further enhanced by the use of natural, locally-sourced materials. Premier Garden View Rooms are either first or second floor with a private balcony overlooking the gardens; Deluxe Garden Rooms are on ground level and have a terrace leading directly into the grounds, whilst Deluxe Ocean View Rooms offer views of the stunning Le Chaland beach. The spacious suites all feature a generous separate living/ dining room and offer either garden or ocean views. There are interconnecting rooms and suites for families, and a collection of two- and four-bedroom Pool Villas will be available from mid 2020.

Restaurants And Bars

Dining options range from traditional Creole cooking to haute cuisine, featuring an exotic blend of European, Asian and African influences, and with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients, sourced from suppliers using organic farming methods wherever possible. The resort’s main restaurant, Horizon, is an all-day dining venue serving bountiful buffet breakfasts, lunch and dinner. Sea.Fire.Salt, is an elegant grill and seafood option, open for lunch and dinner, with both courtyard and beach seating, and there is also a wine cellar that hosts atmospheric private dining experiences. The wellness-focused deli specialises in healthy cuisine using raw, unprocessed products, and two bars keep guests refreshed by the pool and on the beach.

These include a 100 ft ozone-treated infinity pool, a well-equipped fitness centre and complimentary non-motorised watersports including glass-bottomed kayaks and snorkelling. Scuba diving and deep sea fishing are available at an additional charge. The beautiful Anantara Spa features single and couples’ treatment rooms, a Hammam, and beauty salon offering manicures and pedicures. There is also a kids’ club to keep your little ones busy, and the Spice Spoons programme which offers classes in Thai, Portuguese and Mauritian cookery.
